Mother’s Day Gift Guide :: 2017

Mother’s Day is right around the corner – May 14th to be exact. I love holidays like this because they are an excuse to spoil your loved ones. It’s also a great excuse to do a bit of shopping. Win-win!

I typically like to get several different things and make like a gift basket of sorts. Last year, I grabbed a purse for my mom and filled it with fun, different little bits for her.  It was fun. I think I might make the purse gift bag idea a Mother’s Day regular.

These gifts range from the affordable to the seriously extravagant. I know not everybody’s budget allows for some of these more expensive items, but you and your siblings (or father, or whomever) could always go in on some of these if they seem up your alley.

25 Days of Christmas :: Day 14 :: Gifts that Give Back Part 2

A few days ago I posted Gifts that Give Back, but as I was scrolling through my Instagram last night, I realized I know of so many other places that have great gifts and support amazing causes.

I got my first (RED) product in 2007 from a Virgin Records store (lol, remember them?) and I remember one of my teachers asking me if I knew what it supported. I didn’t then, but I do know and I am so proud to have helped introduce family and friends to this amazing origination that supports the fight against AIDS.

Out of Print

Another favorite of mine for a bit is Out of Print Clothing. Being a literature major, I pretty much love anything remotely related to books. Combine that with giving back and I am sold. Out of Print helps fund literacy programs in communities that need it, along with donating books and supporting authors, as well. They have men’s, kids’, and women’s clothing along with awesome accessories.

I first heard about FEED through Instagram when it popped up on my explore page. Feed produces all of their produces with fair trade. And each product has a number stamped on it letting you know how many meals or micronutrient packs that product provided. It is wonderful, really.

25 Days of Christmas :: Day 8 :: Gifts that Give Back

Sometimes shopping for Christmas presents can be a pain. Let’s be honest, there are some people on your list (mine, too!) that have it all. Whenever they want something, they have the means and the opportunity to go and get it for themselves. And sometimes finding fun, unique, and cool gifts that they would like – and don’t already have 0 can come with a hefty price tag.

In these instances, I think it’s best to go with one of my favorite type of gifts – the gift that gives back to others. I’ve gathered ten of my favorite businesses that give back locally and globally. Any of these places will have pretty awesome gifts that will make both of you happy. I mean, what’s better than getting a unique gift that actually helps somebody else?

Half United

I was first introduced to Half United through my Fab Fit Fun subscription. Half United is great because every single thing you purchase from them provides seven meals to a child in need. Seven! That’s awesome. Half United has gift sets, necklaces, earrings, tees, and more. They are cute and fun. Each time I wear my Fighting Hunger necklace, I get so many compliments and questions about the company.

To Write Love On Her Arms

TWLOHA is a nonprofit organization that spreads awareness and support for mental illnesses and self harm. I love this organization because they started super small. They also have tons of resources on their site if you or anybody you know is going through a rough time.

The Giving Keys

I discovered The Giving Keys via Instagram. The Giving Keys are an LA based organization that helps provide jobs to those that have been homeless. They even do custom work in addition to their typical engraving.

The Tote Project

The Tote Project is super cool. Each bag is handmade by human trafficking survivors in the United States. The funds help support these survivors as they move forward in their lives/

Krochet Kids

I heard about Krochet Kids from Tyler Knott Gregson’s Instagram when he partnered with them. KK is such a neat organization. They teach people in developing countries how to crochet and then sell them for fair wages. I think this is so amazing! They sell a wide varity of items for women, children, and men.
