Mother’s Day Gift Guide :: 2017

Mother’s Day is right around the corner – May 14th to be exact. I love holidays like this because they are an excuse to spoil your loved ones. It’s also a great excuse to do a bit of shopping. Win-win!

I typically like to get several different things and make like a gift basket of sorts. Last year, I grabbed a purse for my mom and filled it with fun, different little bits for her.  It was fun. I think I might make the purse gift bag idea a Mother’s Day regular.

These gifts range from the affordable to the seriously extravagant. I know not everybody’s budget allows for some of these more expensive items, but you and your siblings (or father, or whomever) could always go in on some of these if they seem up your alley.

25 Days of Christmas :: Day 14 :: Gifts that Give Back Part 2

A few days ago I posted Gifts that Give Back, but as I was scrolling through my Instagram last night, I realized I know of so many other places that have great gifts and support amazing causes.

I got my first (RED) product in 2007 from a Virgin Records store (lol, remember them?) and I remember one of my teachers asking me if I knew what it supported. I didn’t then, but I do know and I am so proud to have helped introduce family and friends to this amazing origination that supports the fight against AIDS.

Out of Print

Another favorite of mine for a bit is Out of Print Clothing. Being a literature major, I pretty much love anything remotely related to books. Combine that with giving back and I am sold. Out of Print helps fund literacy programs in communities that need it, along with donating books and supporting authors, as well. They have men’s, kids’, and women’s clothing along with awesome accessories.

I first heard about FEED through Instagram when it popped up on my explore page. Feed produces all of their produces with fair trade. And each product has a number stamped on it letting you know how many meals or micronutrient packs that product provided. It is wonderful, really.

25 Days of Christmas :: Day 10 :: Bestie Gift Guide

One of my favorite parts about almost every holiday is the opportunity to shop for presents! Gift for my besties are no exception.

As always, one of the best things to keep in mind are the interests of the person to whom you’ll be giving the gift. Like, I have a friend who loves stripes, so I always keep an eye out at work for super cute striped shirts. That same friend knows I freaking love Edgar Allen Poe, so she nabbed me an amazing notebook with Poe quotes! Awesome, right?

Does your friend love cooking shows? Grab her or him one of their favorite chef’s cookbooks, inscribe it, and you have a bomb gift! Bonus points if mark a recipe and pair the book with a few ingredients they might not have on hand to make said recipe! Do they love YouTube MUAs? Watch a favorites video and score them a few things they don’t already have! Not only are they sure to love the present, they will love you for taking the extra time to get them something they’ll love.

But, these are some adorable, quirky, and fun things that would be awesome gifts for friends!

You can always go the last minute route and grab a gift certificate to IPSY or Mophe Brushes of the Month Club – trust me, both are amazing and well worth the fantastically reasonable price.

Or, if they’re into fitness, grab them an iTunes (or Google Play) gift card with a note instructing them to download a cool new fitness app (Sweat with Kayla is dope) or grab them some fun things to make their workout time a little bit better. TJ Maxx is a great place to grab fun fitness things and they always have high quality stuff.

What are your favorite gifts for your besties?

25 Days of Christmas :: Day 7 :: Gift Guide for Beauty Babes

This time of year is freaking great if you love makeup, perfume, and all that jazz. There are so many cool gift sets, bonus buys, and new items out that it’s almost hard to narrow down what to get the beauty lover in your life.

So, if you have any girls or guys in your life that get more excited about their Sephora points more than anything else, peep these cool picks. Bonus points for you if you manage to order from their Sephora account online or in store behind their back so they get the points from your purchase. I grabbed some cool items from Sephora and Morphe.

25 Days of Christmas :: Day 2 :: Gift Guide for Him

These gifts could work for any man in your life. And honestly, it doesn’t have to be men. These gifts are fun and would be great for anybody!

The Glass Holder ::

Send your boyfriend over the moon and make him the coolest of his friends with these DIY alcohol kits. From ale to hard liquor, Uncommon Goods has the right kit for your man at the right price.

The links are below and I’ll be really honest – some of the different brew kits look SO similar so I may have them linked as the wrong one, BUT the all the links are all there (even if slightly jumbled).

From top to bottom ::  Belgian Brew Kit, Gin Kit, Irish Brew Kit, Oktober Brew Kit, Texas Ale Kit, West Coast Ale Kit, and Whiskey and Rum Kit.

Now that your man can make his own alcohol, he needs something cool to show off to his friends when he invites them over for a drink. Any of these picks are sure to please – even if he hasn’t quite made it to making his own liquor.

Top to bottom :: Beer Flight, Home Brew JournalOne the Rocks Set, and Home Brew Kit.

The Sports Fanatic ::

We’ve all been there – they love sports but they also own every jersey and ball cap known to man. Sometimes it’s hard to find something they’ll love that show their team spirt. These slightly unconventional ways will help them rock their fav colors whenever and wherever.

Top to Bottom :: Broncos Bottle Opener, Yankee Coasters, Soccer Prints, Helmet Cufflinks, Baseball CufflinksSteel MLB Logo, Baseball Cutting Board, and Personalized Golf Book.

The Reader ::

Always has his nose in a book and a stack of unread ones on a table somewhere? Maybe he’s they type that uses books for decorations because he (like me!) ran out of shelf space a long time ago. Well, luckily for you this makes him super easy to shop for – sometimes. Pick any of these cool gifts and it’ll sure be a hit.

Top to Bottom :: Book Tee, Book Stand, Reading Journal, Staircase Bookends, and Lamp Bookends

The Cook ::

I love a man that can cook and adore those that love to do it. If your man likes to dabble in the kitchen, these are perfect for him.

Top to Bottom :: Bamboo Salt Chest, Potato Seasoning, Kentucky Bourbon Pecan Pie Filling, Pizza Dice, Salt & Pepper Mill, Flavors of America Salt Kit, Soup & Sandwich Tray, and Pizza Cutter.

The Man Who Has Everything ::

These are the toughest to shop for – you know who I’m talking about, the guy that pretty much has everything and then some. These picks are unique and sure to please!

 Top to Bottom :: Birthday Book, Custom Puzzle, Grilled Cheese Bags, Mini Bowling, Phone Acoustic, Pranamat and Pillow, Record Doormat, Sand Art, Tie Roll, and Recycled Wetsuit Yoga Mat.

As you can see, I adore Uncommon Goods for fun and unique presents. But Etsy and a ton of other sites are wonderful, too.

Where do you go when you need a unique gift?

Gift Guide :: College Graduation ’16

Monday I received a graduation announcement and party invitation from my cousin. She’s graduating high school; I spent hours searching the webs for a fun and maybe unique gift for her – prompting me to post a high school graduation gift guide on Wednesday, so maybe other people wouldn’t have as much trouble as I did. I found several cool gifts I would have loved when I graduated college that wasn’t the run of the mill inspirational necklace or money in a card. Not that there is anything wrong with that stuff, but sometimes it’s nice to think outside the box…

Gift Cards: Gift cards are a great way to give your grad what they need or want. Some cool gift cards are from Netflix, Airbnb, Amazon, Salted TV, and any store that you know they shop at frequently or that might help them furnish any home they get.

Subscription Boxes: These are a great way to give a gift that is tailored to your grad’s interest that they are sure to love. My Subscription Addiction is a blog that has a description of almost every subscription box know so you’re sure to find one that will be a great fit for (you or) your graduate. My personal favorites are Ipsy, FabFitFun, Hello Fresh, Plated, and MorpheMe.

Personalized Mixtape Pillow: This would be a great gift for your significant other or best friend for graduation (or for any holiday or reason actually). Bonus point if you make a mixtape – or burn a CD – with songs that are important or special to the both of you.

College Graduation GIft :: Mixtape Personalized Pillow

Personalized Voice Recording Print: Another amazing gift that would be great for any special occasion. What a great way to tell your son or daughter congratulations?

College Graduation GIft :: Personalized Voice Recording Print

Customized Mug: Grab a mug that speaks to their major and fill it with tea, coffee, cookies, or their favorite snack.

I'm Good At Math Mug

Passport Holder: Is your grad planning on seeing a bit of the world before landing a job? Score a cool passport holder to help them think of you every time they head in or out of the country.

College Graduation GIft :: Personalized Passport Holder

Alma Mater Pride: Are they the type to wear their college shirt around town with pride and root for their team every Friday night? Get them this cute and decorative Pantone print to show their pride in style.

College Graduation GIft :: University Pantone Print

Personalized Bracelet: So I know this falls dangerously close to the usual inspirational necklace, but I know any literature major would love a piece with their favorite quote. History major? Get the date or place of their favorite historical event. You could even inscribe their graduation date.

College Graduation GIft :: Personallized Bracelet

Personalized Stationary: 821 Studio has the cutest stationary for every occasion so grab your grad personalized thank you cards or general stationary to keep in touch with their family. Moms always appreciate a handwritten note and it doesn’t hurt to have something hanging around for any reason.

College Graduation GIft :: Personalized Stationary

Most of these gifts would be cool for a senior graduating high school – just as some high graduation gifts would be more than welcome when graduating college.

What kind of neat gifts did you get when you graduated?
