Netflix Workout :: The Following Season One :: Arms & Abs

I’m in the habit of switching Netflix on whenever I’m cleaning or cooking. It gives me an opportunity to catch up on shows or, in this case, become obsessed and binge a new-to-me show.

At the beginning of the month I was tired of the same shows and nothing new on Netflix was really interesting me. In a moment of television desperation, I clicked on Kevin Bacon’s smirking face and began The Following. The Following follows FBI agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) as he spirals in and out of control.

The first season revolves around Ryan’s quest to catch illustrious serial killer Joe Carrel and has  heavy Edgar Allan Poe theme. No spoilers, but I quickly became hooked and finished all of the episodes on Netflix (aka, all three seasons).

The following

I wanted more of an endurance workout and let me tell you, my arms are so freaking sore.

Have you watched the following? What do you think about it? What’s your go to arm or ab workout?

Netflix Workout :: How to Get Away With Murder Leg Workout

I haven’t had a lot of free time lately, I am currently working full time and attempting to move (seriously, it’s a nightmare), but what bit of time I’ve managed to grab, I’ve spent it literally doing nothing. Straight up couch potato nothing. Continue reading

25 Days of Christmas :: Day 20 :: Binge Worthy Netflix Shows & A Workout

It’s that time of year again! What time, you might ask? Netflix binge time! Now that I’m out of school and have less time off during the holidays, my binge sessions definitely are not as long.

But even if it isn’t popcorn and blankets on the couch, full blown binge session, I love the convenience of Netflix.

I love to turn Netflix on while I’m washing dishes, cleaning, laundry, reading, or whatever. Sometimes I even pop one on my iPod (with headphones) while watching movies with Marley. I even make up workouts for super long binge sessions that way I feel sort of productive after vegging out for hours.

These are my current favorite shows to binge! I just started Prison Break (I’m on episode 8) and American Horror Story (just started season 2), so I’ll be sure and update you guys on how much I love – or don’t love – those.

Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz star in this unusual take on the traditional crime fighting TV show. Deschanel plays a witty, somewhat socially challenged forensic anthropologist – Temperance Brennan – and Boreanaz plays a cute, rugged, sometimes shockingly smart FBI agent – Sealy Booth. Brennan and Booth get paired with an amazing supporting cast to solve murders and navigate various interpersonal issues. I just finished Season 11 and I’m still in love with Booth and Brennan’s partnership. Brennan is endearing and Booth is adorable and their friends are just as addicting. I’m super sad because Season 12 is going to be the final season.

The takeaway :: fun facts, interesting characters, unique plot line

I was so shocked when I started watching this show and fell in love with it! I don’t typically watch shows or movies with such a ‘horror’ theme, but after a few late nights on Tumblrs about this show, I knew I had to check it out. Flash forward four years later and I am such a fan girl. Two brothers fight all sorts of supernatural things (hence the name) after being raised as ‘hunters’ by their slightly dysfunctional father. Another unique twist on crime fighting ….sort of. Not only am I into this show because the characters are majorly flawed and still manage to make great strides in self-improvement, but the actors are amazing people. Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are amazing role models and have raised awareness about depression over the past few years after Jared shared his struggle with the fans.

The takeaway :: mythological facts, great actors, huge fan base

A girl I went to high school with tried to turn me on to this show for years and I resisted, but at the time there was only one season. After season two, I queued it up and fell in love with this BBC take on Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes series – mainly because of Benedict Cumberbatch. You may know him as Khan from JJ Abram’s Star Trek movie, but this is where I fell in love with him and Martin Freeman. This show is witty, smart, complicated, and addicting. Honestly, you should watch it twice to get everything you missed the first time! It is more of the show where you need to actually sit down and pay attention the first time so you don’t miss anything important.

Criminal Minds

I got hooked on this after a late night marathon on TV. I’ve always been fascinated by serial killers, so this was such a cool twist on the traditional cop show. The main cast feels like family after a few seasons and it is so hard not to fall in love with Matthew Grey Gubler and Shemar Moore both on and off screen. They and their characters have such a great relationship. Moore also raises awareness for MS, which is beyond amazing. Throw in the great quotes, thrilling chases, and mind bending physiological stuff and you have a killer show with killer episodes every time.

The takeaway :: cool quotes, lots of fun facts, and the best Jane Lynch performance of her life on numerous occasions

I won’t lie to you, I started watching this show because of James Spader. I fell in love with him when watching Pretty in Pink and have not regretted it a single moment since. This is the only show I started at season one and I would do it all over again. He plays a criminal mastermind with an intriguing past that consistently succeeds in manipulating the FBI to help him. Megan Boone is a rock star as the female lead, Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Keen who is somehow important to Raymond Reddington, aka Red (Spader). Add in a stellar supporting cast, including the ever adorable Ryan Eggold as Liz’s love interest, and you have a riveting show. It’s one of the few shows I’ve loved enough to buy the DVDs.

The takeaway :: intrigue, James Spader

See a theme? I adore crime dramas! I can’t help it. I love the thrill of the chase and the random knowledge gained from these different shows! I watch other types of shows, too, don’t get me wrong. They just aren’t my go to shows.

I seriously love hitting pause between episodes and doing a Netflix workout. It’s super easy. I just put little hash or tally marks by each one as they happen so I know how many I need to preform of each.

Criminal Minds Netflix Workout :: Arms and Cardio

I had planned to post either a new brownie recipe or my favorite go-to cookie recipe today as I was making both Saturday for different events, but I was having one of those days. You know those days where everything just seems to go wrong? It was one of those days.

First, the cookies I had made dozens of times spread (the first batch) and burnt (the second batch) and then the brownies came out looking great, but tasting so icky. After hours in the kitchen not working, I was sort of thankful when the cookout I was going to on Sunday got rained out. It gave me a chance to spend Sunday making different brownies for my work potluck on Monday.

Monday was supposed to be action packed after I got off work at one, but everything got rained out! I ended up spending the 4th curled up in bed with hot tea, a bowl of popcorn, Netflix, and a new book.

The latest season of Criminal Minds is on Netflix now, so I have been so focused on that.

I made sure to do a couple of my fun Netflix workouts in order to make my night in a little more productive! lol

I thought I’d share these workouts with you! I did arms and a small at home cardio workout.

Netflix Workout :: Supernatural

I am obsessed with Supernatural.

Jared, Jensen, and Misha are too cute. I used to be terrified of any show that had anything remotely scary. That is, until I saw The Woman in Black with Daniel Radcliffe. I made my friends go see if with me because I love Radcliffe. Once I sat through that suspense, I knew I could take on Supernatural. One Netflix binge later and I was hooked.

Since becoming a verified Netflix binger, I have had to come up with ways to stay active while still getting in my episodes. Sure, sometimes I pile on the blankets and hideaway, but usually I try to fit in a quick home workout after each episode.

It’s super easy – just make little tally marks next to each item when it happens, hit pause between each episode, and get your short workout in. I thought since I have been doing these almost daily lately, that I would share my favorite one with y’all.
